After a decade of serving our neighbors in need, the Dayton Episcopal Food Pantry and Clothing Room closed its doors on November 17, 2018. This was done with great sadness, as there were many committed volunteers from the Dayton-area Episcopal churches who served each month, alongside volunteers from the community and other faith communities. This joint ministry was certainly a labor of love, and is likely one of the most successful cooperative projects to come out of the Dayton deanery.
Despite the closing of this outstanding outreach ministry, there are so many outcomes to be proud of.
Not only did this ministry change the lives of those it served, but it had great impact on those who volunteered their time, talent and treasure.
The closing of the Dayton Episcopal Food Pantry & Clothing Room does not mean the end of Christ Church’s commitment to supporting food justice in the Dayton area. The Vestry has committed to finding another food ministry serving the same geographical location as the Dayton Episcopal Food Pantry, where we can give our weekly food donations. Suggestions and new ideas to help address food justice in our community is welcomed!
