Waffle Shop + Grants
Through Waffle Shop, Christ Church has offered a recipe of generosity for the City of Dayton for over 90 years. Stirring together dashes of good food, friendly people, and plentiful gifts, we do what we can, one waffle at a time.
Like a batch of homemade holiday treats, the proceeds from Waffle Shop are passed along to our neighbors. They are the sweet dividend, going to support the hungry, the poor, the sick, and the unhoused.
In a year we could not gather for Waffle Shop, help us keep mixing up this tradition of caring. All donations will be 100% passed along to local charities through our Waffle Shop Grants Committee. It is not too late to blend a giving spirit into a challenging year!
- The Waffles: And give an amount you would have spent feeding yourself on our famous waffles, homemade treats, and hearty soups.
- The People: And donate honoring the hundreds of hours volunteers give each year to make Waffle Shop happen or give remembering those who would have joined you for lunch.
- The Generosity: And offer a special gift this year where so many will go without, in gratitude for having enough food, clothes, and shelter
Every November Christ Church hosts the community to four days of Waffles, sausage, sandwiches, baked goods, crafts, and white elephant sale. We see between 1600 and 2000 people during this annual Waffle Shop. This year we celebrated the 90th Annual Waffle Shop on November 19-22, 2019!
In addition to all of the great hospitality, friendships, sharing of good food and even better conversation, Waffle Shop profits are given back to the community through a number of grants that are awarded every spring. In 2020 we distributed over $20,000 in Waffle Shop Grants to 20 local organizations and ministries that are making a difference in Dayton.
