Easter Season of Celebrations Continue at Christ Church

May 10 — GRADUATE RECOGNITION SUNDAY
Sixth Sunday of Easter

What a joy it is to celebrate the special moments in each other’s lives. On May 10, we’ll celebrate our graduates at the 10:30 worship service, followed by a festive Coffee Hour hosted by our Fellowship Committee!

May 17 — ASCENSION SUNDAY
Seventh Sunday of Easter

On Ascension Sunday, we honor the special moment when Jesus went to be with God in heaven—40 days after he rose from the dead on Easter. We like to think of this as a beautiful “homecoming.” We’re inviting you to celebrate Jesus’ homecoming by dressing in your Sunday finest — church hats & fascinators are welcomed!

May 24 — PENTECOST SUNDAY & END OF YEAR RECOGNITIONS

Pentecost Sunday is often referred to as the birthday of the church. This commemorates the moment the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, transforming them from a small, frightened group into bold messengers of Jesus’ love. In our worship service, we’ll hear a multilingual reading from Acts, and acknowledge another wonderful year of ministry at Christ Church with volunteer recognitions.

Help Us Speak in Tongues! For the 10:30 service on Pentecost, May 24, we need readers who speak a language other than English to help us with the arrival of the Holy Spirit! Volunteers will read 2 verses alone, and another 2 verses together. All languages welcome! Let Rev. Peter know if you can help!

In Case You Missed It — Here’s all the celebrations we’ve had so far this season:

April 12 — CAMP SUNDAY
Second Sunday of Easter
Summer camp has the power to change lives, and on Camp Sunday we’ll be celebrating our diocesan camp, the Procter Center. Camp staff will host Children’s formation at 9am. In worship they’ll lead worship music, we’ll hear a message from co-director Jerusalem Jackson Greer, and we’ll learn more about the exciting array of camps available for all ages this summer! You’re encouraged to wear your “Procter Gear” from past years!

April 19 — FLOWERING OF THE CROSS
Third Sunday of Easter
One of our favorite Christ Church traditions, we “Flower the Cross” during worship. Some fresh cut flowers provided, or bring a few stems from home! During the service, we’ll use our flowers to adorn the cross.

April 26 — GREAT LADY CONCERT SERIES: THE JIMMY LEACH JAZZTET
Fourth Sunday of Easter
The final program of the 2025-26 Great Lady Concert Series will feature the most talented jazz musicians in Dayton on Sunday, April 26 at 3pm. Trumpeter and singer Jimmy Leach plays & sings the great jazz standards of the 20th century.

May 3 — BISHOP GIBBS VISITATION & CONFIRMATIONS
