June 18 Diocesan Council: Open meeting at St. George’s, Kettering 150 150 Dayton Christ Episcopal Church
Have you ever wondered what the Diocese of Southern Ohio does for its churches and how our Diocese is governed? Each year, the Annual Convention elects members of the Diocesan Council, among other positions. Diocesan Council helps to carry out the business of the Diocese between Annual Conventions. To make our work more visible to the parishes, we periodically ask local churches to facilitate one of our meetings. We then open those meetings up to anyone who is interested in seeing what happens.
This Saturday, June 18, we will be meeting at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Washington Township (Far Hills Avenue ~ 1-2 miles north of I-675). We’ll call the meeting to order at 10 AM and take a lunch break around noon. We’ll resume around 12:45 and continue until all business for the day is concluded (approximately 3 PM). You are welcome to sit in, watch, and listen to any part of the meeting except for any executive sessions that are called. During breaks and before/after the meeting you are also welcome to interact with any of the members of Council.
We have two elected members of Diocesan Council from Christ Episcopal Church – Rev. Peter Homeyer and Melissa Shirley. While Peter+ is out of town this week, you can contact Melissa Shirley (MelissaLShirley@nullgmail.com, 614-562-5970) with any questions.
