As of November 1, nearly 42 million Americans will lose their SNAP benefits as a result of the government shutdown — that’s 1 in 8 Americans; roughly 40% of them are children.
In an effort to respond to the immediate need of our neighbors who will be most impacted, we are adding another Sunday for collecting and delivering food donations to our local food pantry, Have A Gay Day.
We partner with Have A Gay Day because we believe in their welcoming & affirming mission – the need to eat is something we all have in common. When we share our abundance with others, all of God’s people can be fed.
Donations can be brought in any time, and will be blessed during worship on the 1st + 3rd Sundays of each month, then taken to Have A Gay Day’s food pantry. Donations should be placed in the red wagons, found in the Narthex (hallway leading into the sanctuary).
