Volunteers Needed: June 1st Take, Eat Ministry 1920 1280 Dayton Christ Episcopal Church

“Take, Eat” is our ministry to the St Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelters in Dayton, Ohio. Each month on the first Saturday, we provide the food supplies to prepare lunch for the Gateway Shelter for Men and the Apple Street Shelter for Single Women, Families, and Couples. Funds to support this ministry are programmed in our annual budget. Donations to support this ministry are always welcome and can be made by clicking here and selecting “Hunger & Feeding Ministry” in the fund options.

In addition to providing the food supplies, a small team of volunteers serves our lunch to the women and families at the Apple Street Shelter on the first Saturday of each month, from 10:30am-12:30pm. Our next serving date is Saturday, June 1st, and five more servers are needed for our. To serve on this date, follow this link: Take, Eat Sign Up

When people ask why we serve, I think St Teresa of Calcutta got it right – “I see Jesus in every human being,” said Mother Teresa, “I say to myself, this is hungry Jesus, I must feed him. This is sick Jesus. This one has leprosy or gangrene; I must wash him and tend to him. I serve because I love Jesus.” For Mother Teresa, it was Jesus who inspired her to serve.

So don’t miss this opportunity to serve Jesus in disguise.
